Benzodiazepines and Addiction

‘New Thinking About Benzodiazepines’ Video (Free Resource)

outpatient recovery treatment

Recently, Kolmac Integrated Behavioral Health Centers, MedChi, and Maryland Psychiatric Society hosted The Louis J. Kolodner Memorial Lecture featuring Dr. Robert DuPont. Dr. DuPont’s talk on “Benzodiazepines And Addiction: New Thinking About Old Drugs” was videotaped and is now available here. Dr. DuPont’s accompanying PowerPoint with research and stats is also available for download (below).

Dr. DuPont’s talk is exceptionally helpful for understanding anxiety and sleep disorders and the appropriate application of benzodiazepines when considering the complexities of addiction. Feel free to also download Dr. DuPont’s PowerPoint presentation filled with research findings and stats here: dupont_bz_kolodner_memorial_final.

You can also find our recent blog post on this topic here.

A Note to Primary Care Physicians

One of our medical directors would be happy to schedule a time to visit your office.

The Kolmac staff always welcomes the opportunity to work collaboratively with other clinicians. We are committed to being available to you during each stage of your patient’s involvement in our treatment program from evaluation through program completion.

We send you regular written progress reports at your preferred frequency. In addition, the individual clinician working most closely with your patients is available to speak by telephone.

We treat patients with addictions to all substances as well as gambling disorders. We are able to detoxify on an outpatient basis most patients from alcohol, opioids, and benzodiazepines – even those with severe physical addiction. If you have any questions about the appropriateness of your patient for our program, please feel free to contact us.
