Kolmac’s Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) Supports Lasting Recovery

Fifty years ago, Kolmac transformed addiction treatment by introducing the first-ever Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP). We understood that traditional inpatient rehab wasn’t feasible for everyone—many individuals needed professional support to overcome addiction while continuing their daily lives.

Our IOP was designed for people like you—those balancing work, family, and responsibilities but still seeking expert addiction care. With flexible, structured treatment, we make recovery accessible without the need for extended stays in a rehab facility.

Beyond addiction treatment, we offer integrated psychiatric services to address co-occurring mental health challenges like depression, anxiety, and insomnia. Our three-phase recovery program ensures a seamless transition through each stage of care, providing consistency and comprehensive support from our expert clinical team.

At Kolmac, we help you recover on your terms, without putting your life on hold.

Why Group Therapy?

Humans need one another. We evolved in groups, and we survive best in groups. It’s part of our biological makeup. When we isolate ourselves and refuse to allow others to help us, we often resort to negative, unhealth coping mechanisms. That’s why group therapy helps: it keeps us connected to other humans, which is essential not only for addiction treatment, but also our overall health, happiness, and well-being.

Evidence-based benefits of group therapy include:

  • Structure and peer support to continue recovery after rehab
  • Connection and community to reduce loneliness and isolation
  • Inspiration and hope from hearing the stories and experiences of recovery peers
  • Learning, developing, and practicing healthy coping strategies with/from recovery peers
  • Learning how to live well when you’re in the real world
  • Knowledge about the neurobiological, social, and psychological components of addiction
  • A deep sense of unity, belonging and family among recovery peers

Components and topics in group therapy at Kolmac include, but are not limited to:

  • Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT)
  • Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT)
  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
  • Relapse prevention
  • Anger management
  • Stress management
  • Nutrition/healthy lifestyle
  • Meditation
